A special train held in June 1972 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the opening of railways in Japan, lamenting the retirement of the C62 steam locomotive.

Features: This event marked the final run of Japan's largest and fastest passenger steam locomotive, known as the glorious Shirokuni (C62), which was active pulling limited express trains like Tsubame and Hato.
This commemorative train marked the end of regular operations of the C62 on Hokkaido lines (including the express Niseko).
C62 No. 2, which was active during this time, is currently preserved in operational condition at the Kyoto Railway Museum as the SL Steam Loco.
