Hand-colored original copperplate engraving of Heiligenblut, Austria
This is a hand-colored original copperplate engraving depicting the scenery of Heiligenblut, known as the Golden Composition among the Austrian Alps and beloved by many artists. It portrays the Parish Church of St. Vincent and the village of Heiligenblut against the backdrop of Grossglockner Mountain (3798m), the highest peak in the Austrian Alps. The bottom of the print is inscribed with Orig. Rad. (short for Original Radierung, meaning original copperplate engraving) and the artist's name, M. Leisch, in pencil. Additionally, HEILIGENBLUT 1301 (village name and altitude) and GROSSGLOCKNER 3798 (mountain name and altitude) are printed in the lower left corner of the artwork. The wooden frame measures approximately 15x18cm, and the copperplate engraving itself is about 8x5.5cm. It was acquired in Heiligenblut about 30 years ago, and both the engraving and the frame are in excellent condition with minimal scratches or dirt.
