Description
Safflower and Green Leaves: A form of carved lacquer, a type of vermilion lacquerware. Layers of red and blue lacquer are built up, and then patterns are carved into them. The motifs of flowers and birds, with red leaves revealing blue underneath, are imitations of Kamakura-bori from the Muromachi period.
